A new bathroom is one of the jobs people most want a number for before they call anyone, and it is also one of the hardest to price from a photo. Two bathrooms the same size can be thousands of pounds apart, and almost all of the difference is in things you cannot see from the doorway. This guide explains what drives the cost of a bathroom refit in Leeds, how we price it, and what to check on any quote you get.
What actually moves the price
What you choose to put in. The suite, tiles, taps, shower and furniture are the biggest swing. A good mid-range suite and a designer one can be several times apart, and the fitting time barely changes. We quote supply and fit as standard, so the products are on the quote with the labour, and you can see exactly what you are getting.
Whether things are moving. Keeping the toilet, basin and bath where they are is the simplest job. Moving the toilet means moving the soil pipe. Swapping a bath for a walk-in shower or wet room means new levels, new waste routes and proper waterproofing.
What is under the old one. Lifting an old bathroom is where surprises turn up. Rotten boards under the bath, old leaks, joists notched too deep, pipework that is past it. A good quote tells you how hidden problems will be handled before they happen.
Walls and floors. Tiling straight onto old plaster is not the same job as boarding out properly first. Floors may need levelling or new ply before tiles go down.
Electrics and gas. New lighting, an extractor fan, an electric shower or moving a radiator all bring in a qualified electrician or gas engineer. We use registered, accredited trades for this and certificates are provided where needed.
How we price a bathroom
Our quotes are built from things you can check:
- Days on site for the team, from strip-out to finished.
- Building materials, such as boards, adhesives, pipework and waterproofing.
- Your chosen products, listed by name with the exact items, so there is no "allowance" that turns out to buy nothing.
You get one clear price for supply and fit. If you would rather buy the suite and tiles yourself, just say and we will re-quote for fitting only. Work starts with a 40% deposit, which covers ordering your products, and longer jobs are paid in stages as they go.
We can also show you what the finished room would look like, using your own photos and the actual products on the quote, so you are not guessing from a brochure.
What to check on any bathroom quote
- Are the products named, or is it a vague allowance?
- Does it say what happens if they find rot or leaks under the floor?
- Is waterproofing included behind showers and in wet areas?
- Are electrics and any gas work done by registered trades?
- How long will you be without a working bathroom?
Getting a price
Send us photos of the bathroom as it is now, rough measurements, and a few pictures of bathrooms you like. We cover Leeds and West Yorkshire and the quote is free. See our bathroom installation page for how a full refit runs from start to finish.
