Is the assessment free, or do I have to pay for a call-out?
The first step is always free — send us photos of the sinking, cracking or pooling and we'll tell you honestly what we think is going on underneath. Some driveway problems are clear enough from photos and a conversation; where it isn't, or you'd like it traced properly on site, that's what the priority call-out is for. There's a fee for that visit, agreed with you before it's booked.
Why has my driveway started sinking or dipping in places?
Almost always because the sub-base underneath was laid too shallow or wasn't compacted properly when the driveway was first put down — or water has been tracking underneath and slowly washing material out. The surface is just showing you a problem that started well below it.
Can you just relay the cracked or sunken area, or does the whole driveway need doing?
Depends what we find. Sometimes a local area can be dug out, the base rebuilt properly and just that section relaid. Other times the same shallow base runs under the whole driveway, and patching one spot just means the next spot goes the same way within a year or two. We'll tell you honestly which situation you're in before quoting.
My driveway floods or holds puddles after rain — is that a repair or a bigger job?
It depends on the cause. Sometimes it's a level or fall issue that can be corrected locally; sometimes it means the whole surface needs relaying with proper falls and drainage built in. If more than five square metres of impermeable surface is involved at the front of the house, drainage also becomes a planning question, not just a practical one — something we factor into any quote.
Do you repair driveways you didn't originally install?
Yes — most of the driveway repairs we're called to are ones someone else laid. We assess what's there honestly, including telling you if the existing base is worth building on or if starting again properly is the better long-term answer.
How long does a driveway repair take?
A local sub-base repair to one area is often a few days; a full rebuild is closer to the timeline of a new driveway. We give you a realistic window once we know what the repair actually involves, not before.
