Will the gravel spread onto the road or lawn?
Not if it is installed correctly. We contain gravel with solid edging and, on driveways, use a stabilising grid so the stone locks in place and does not scatter or rut.
Do gravel driveways need permeable drainage approval?
Loose gravel is naturally permeable, so a properly built gravel driveway usually satisfies the drainage rules for front gardens without needing a soakaway or planning permission. We still design the levels so water drains through and away from the house.
How much maintenance does a gravel driveway need?
Very little. An occasional rake to level the surface and topping up the odd bucket of stone every few years is all that is usually required.
Can you install gravel over an existing driveway?
Sometimes, but we generally recommend excavating and preparing a fresh sub-base to guarantee stability and drainage. We will advise honestly after inspecting the existing surface.
What grade of gravel is best?
